In the early Spring of 2010, Magician Ryan Majestic broke into an abandoned house in Echo Park to put on a 13-night run of magic shows for nobody. No one was invited, and it’s location was kept a secret.

It was a culmination of a year long endeavor that he called The Secret Show Project.

If you happened to have been a curious pedestrian on those chilly thirteen nights, you might have looked up at his tiny abandoned house between 11:00 and midnight to see it full of candlelight and the front door propped open…

Creative Time is pleased to present a blend of performance art and magic as part of Performa09. In Honor Among Thieves (Chapter 1: The Tower and the Star), Los Angeles–based artist Glenn Kaino will collaborate with renowned magician Ryan Majestic in a stage show that is part performance art and part magic. The show will challenge basic perceptions of reality, calling into question the relationship between a performer and his audience, and reality and illusion.

It is official and announced. On November 9th, Ryan Majestic will be returning to New York for a one night only show as part of the massive performance art Biennial, Performa ‘09 .

It had come to my attention that users who were trying to use the booking form with Microsoft Explorer were not getting their messages through.

To everyone who tried to contact me and didn’t get a reply – my deepest, deepest apologies. I didn’t know you wrote!

A New Year

2007 was another hallmark year for Ryan Majestic.

From headlining comedy club shows in San Francisco… avant garde art shows in Budapest… cutting edge kids events at the Echoplex, Ryan appeared in over 20 clubs and countless private events all over the world. Ryan Majestic’s strange blend of magic, comedy and performance art was even lauded by the LA Weekly! Add to that a new and improved website and you have a year to be remembered.

2008 has already kicked into high gear. Ryan Majestic debuted his raucous new act at the Three Clubs in early January, and following up with the tremendous success of the show, Ryan has been asked to perform in the upcoming “Magic Castle All-Star Jam.”

Ryan Majestic certainly brought the magic to my son’s 2nd birthday party! From penguins to Elmo to a Thomas the Tank Engine inspired smoke stack hat – everyone got a balloon souvenir they adored. He had a great rapport with the kids and was able to keep them engaged and entertained (not an easy feat to accomplish when dealing with toddlers.) He even had some magic up his sleeve that the children also loved. I would highly recommend him for any event if you want some fun!
